The route is mainly within the County of Denbighshire. There are sections though within Flintshire and Conwy.
Flintshire
The route starts in Prestatyn which is in Denbighshire. When it leaves the road to go towards Trelawnyd it enters Flintshire. It leaves Flintshire at the footbridge south of Trelawnyd at Graig Arthur. (Grid reference SJ 097 786)

Conwy
The route enters Conwy at Rhyd Galed (Grid Reference SJ 017 466) north of Betws Gwerfil Goch. It is continues in Conwy to Pont Brenig and for the rest of the Conwy Section through Llansannan to the road into Henllan.
